Niagara University Formalizes Partnership With China’s Hunan University Of Commerce

Niagara University entered into a formal partnership with the Hunan University of Commerce, a provincial institution located in the historically and culturally renowned city of Changsha, China, on Nov. 15, 2016.

The “agreement to cooperate” demonstrates a mutual desire to work together on undergraduate and graduate educational exchange programs, as well as executive training and English summer camps offered through Niagara’s Edward A. Brennan Center for Language, Culture and Leadership.

The agreement was signed by the Rev. Kevin G. Creagh, C.M., NU’s vice president for university mission and ministry and interim vice president for international relations, and Wang Minggao, vice president and faculty member at Hunan.

Additional Hunan officials who were present at the signing included Yang Liangqi, professor and director of the university’s Administrative Affairs Office, and Zhang Yangbin, professor and director of the School of International Studies.

Niagara University representatives will visit Changsha in December.

Established in 1949, the Hunan University of Commerce offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in economics, management, law, science, engineering and the liberal arts. The coeducational university encompasses 17 college and departments as well as 52 scientific research institutions, and is attended by over 20,000 students.
